Cannot stress the airport one enough. I don’t know why people consider sweatpants to be the *only* form of comfortable clothing. A dress is literally the absence of pants, wide leg trousers and a sweater is basically the same as a sweatsuit. Loved this whole piece 🩷

THANK YOU!!!!!! you are so on point. thank you.

agreed! I can't for the life of me understand why airport longues don't have dress codes, especially during peak hours. It would solve the "overcrowding" problem immediately!

The power duo!!! Loveeee love love this!!!!! Another one i thought about is to never bring up unnecessary dieting/dietary restrictions when you’re having a meal or drinks with friends… I can’t stand it when people comment on the amount of carbs in the pasta someone ordered or the calories in the desserts 😭 you never know how someone’s relationship with food is like so let’s just enjoy our time and not kill the vibe!!!

KAREN. Yes oh my GOD- or someone saying they’re SOOOO full when you’re like still hungry… these people need to be avoided at all costs

My thing is, i need to know ahead of time if the event is shoes off. Just because sometimes the look depends on the shoes. If anything, I admire people who adhere to a shoes off policy in their home. They’re the more evolved species.

“One of the first signs that I know I’ll like someone is whether they pour water for the table before filling up their glass” – Yes! It’s the secret sister to “are they nice to waitstaff?” and I always notice 🙃

Only thing I’d disagree on is the sweatpants in the airport, some of my favourite outfits include joggers and hoodies plus they’re comfy af. And I think my new (August?) resolution is now to make sure I leave the house with my Kindle/a book. Great read!!

This isn’t etiquette, but I love wearing my name plate necklace from earth to lane to parties so people don’t have to guess or try to remember my name!

i love that -- my nameplate necklace is in arabic which makes things a bit more challenging lol

Lover this and the appendix is the best! We need a whole post on words/sayings to incorporate and/or nix from our everyday conversations.

It seems like people no longer value etiquette! Many of these are very important to me and just make life and relationships more thoughtful!

I love that people like this, people like me, exist. It makes me excited for who I’m to become friends with in the future!

all hits! I couldn't agree more on these rules. Though I will say: I'm rather bad about saving friends' info and have been known to look up their addresses via past uber trips when on a holiday and looking to send them a postcard. Works well in a pinch, though.

tbh def don’t agree with all of these (if i’m going to be on a plane for an excessively long time i just wear things that i know will be comfortable and won’t look bad incredibly wrinkled, aka sweatpants) but regardless, LOVE this piece!! it def gets me thinking about how these social norms are not natural and haven’t always been in place. really cool to think about !

I loved these thoughtful tips. A couple others I like are asking how everyone is enjoying their meal (usually when out, especially when i picked the place), and sending a text "this reminded me of you" - usually something funny or inside-jokey

Ah I love these posts so much! Love to feel like it's a chat between friends and these tips are so real. Especially loved the gift giving section as someone who is currently very much struggling to find a gift for bf (an amazing gifter) while not being a good gift giver...
