vintage frank miura watches, tekla towels, and kirsten dunst's butterfly 18th birthday cake.....
+.。☆゚:;。+゚ ☆* 10 things i haven't stopped thinking about this week... +.。☆゚:;。+゚ ☆*゚
i was standing in line at trader joe’s, a task i habitually commit to every single sunday, at the same cash register i’ve checked out at countless times and as i stared at the endless loop of my bananas and peppermint herbal tea being scanned with care i was overcome with a sense of crushing monotony. by nature i am a creature of habit (i do feel we are all starved of ritual in culture these days but that’s a topic for a different stack) but often i cling too far into routine and veer into a place devoid of spontaneity.
i glanced around trader joe’s wondering if everyone else was feeling the same weight of repetition impeding their sunday afternoon and i noticed for the first time a poster describing the artwork displayed throughout the store. aptly named “east village details” are drawings by peter arkle and are an ode to the special little nondescript characters of the neighborhood. i have passed this poster every week for the past 3 years and never stopped to take the time to read it- i love the east village! i love all of it’s little details! & i now love peter arkle! i realized that my commitment to a routine may not be the issue but instead i should be finding novelty in the reiteration of life.
maybe your monday commute could lead to you order a new book someone is reading so intensely on the subway you know it has to be good, a afternoon lounging in your park of choice could lead you to meeting a new neighbor and discovering you both had alexa chung stan tumblr accounts in 2011 and a trip to your grocery store could lead to discovering a new artist. our own little world is ripe with newness but make sure you save some space for it.
i love kirsten dunst! & i REALLY love her butterfly birthday cake and crimped hair from her 18th birthday party in 2000. should i crimp my hair?
2. i’ve recently become obsessed with frank miura watches from japan and in particular i haven’t stopped thinking about the hyper macau dice casino watch. whenever i manage to get my hands on one i do believe that i will transform into my highest self
3. i have really been loving homme girl’s recent editorial shoots (the styling + casting is spot on in my humble little opinion) and in particular i haven’t stopped thinking about this look on em rata. i LOVE this jw dolphin graphic tank paired with a this little leopard sarah aphrodite mini skirt. i’ve always been drawn to pairing a polished classic piece (leopard mini) with very fun/unexpected/casual elements so this look is candy to me.
speaking of dolphin motifs i love this bedazzled souvenir baby t-shirt from treasure island, florida
i deeply adore the bartender at union pool in williamsburg wearing a “who gives a shit” graphic muscle tank…. who DOES give a shit?
i fear i am reaching the point in my mid-20s where i dream about expensive towels…. in particular i am absolutely sick over this blue and white striped tekla number
7. i love this red vintage dior star necklace if someone can source me one i will give u a kiss!
(cigarettes are bad!) i was at a party over the weekend and someone had these super thin esse and if you do smoke the occasional cheeky cig you should be switching to these
9. i recently came across the incredible artist/art student catie cook on my tik tok fyp and fell in love with her and her its a girls world painting. this is as if my brain exploded onto the canvas, catie you are so talented!!!!!!! i <3 art made for girls
10. look at how beautiful my dead flowers (thank you mom&dad) look in my trader joes makeshift trash bag
XOXOXO
