elsa peretti's silver gardenia necklace, drew barrymore at the ever after premiere in 1998 and a swan motif meringue cookie....
+.。☆゚:;。+゚ ☆* 10 things i haven't stopped thinking about this week... +.。☆゚:;。+゚ ☆*゚
i was recently telling <3 jacey <3 about a book she recommended to me (cleopatra and frankenstein !!) and how after i finished it i went down a digital rabbit hole reading about the author, coco mellors. i recounted how i fell in love with her personal style and read a few of her other short stories which were phenomenal. after going on for a few moments j stopped and asked me “what made you want to research the author afterwards?” i thought about it for a minute and said “i guess i was just curious”
the next day i was having an extremely philosophical conversation with my friend ellen about my favorite topic: bravo. after dissecting the every psychologically precise detail of the scandovol from vanderpump rules the conversation turned to how we hate “guilty pleasure” reality tv shaming culture and how one’s morality should not be attached to pleasure.
on my walk home i realized how these two conversations were inextricably linked. i’ve learned over the past few years that i gain the most out of even the silliest aspects of life when i attach curiosity to it. sometimes that looks like reading more about an author whose words resonated with you or diving into the world of a new bravo franchise.
i love analyzing reality tv. i love poorly written beach reads. i love d-list celebrity gossip. i love asking about the story behind a noticeably pre-loved vintage jacket. i love asking someone about a unique tattoo.
i think i am going to try to add “tell me more about that” and “play next episode” into my vocabulary a bit more, who knows where it will lead me.
ok bye off to finish season 3 of selling sunset!
here are 10 things i haven’t stopped thinking about this week
speaking of cleopatra and frankenstein by coco mellors… what i loved the most was mellor’s ability to depict the duality in romantic relationships, all of the characters felt so realistically flawed.
i am deeply in love with alma berrow’s ceramics, i’ve always been drawn to art that celebrates the beauty of the mundane and she does just that so beautifully
the way in which i am teetering dangerously to close to buying this little silver mary jane keychain from sandy liang. IF YOU ARE MY FRIEND DON’T LET ME DO IT!
kim! petras! on the cover of the si swim issue!!!!
i dreamt about this sparkly leather kelly green vintage leather jacket from seven wonders in williamsburg last night
i feel a deep connection with this lone chilled reese’s cup in a bucket of budweiser beers angelina and i stumbled upon thursday night. may we all be a reese’s cup in a sea of beers!
i’ve always loved the movie ever after, but i recently found drew barrymore’s look for the 1998 premiere in florence and can’t imagine a more perfect look. it’s referential to the movie but also so ~drew~ with the perfect tinge of 90s grunge. trying to figure out who designed it - looks like gallino era dior but if anyone can id for me i will buy you a coffee
i’ve recently been drawn to elsa peretti’s jewelry for both tiffany and halson. in particular i love this gardenia bottle pendent but what struck me even more was her inspiration behind it: "once i was in Portofino and i met all those beautiful women that were wearing Pucci's dresses and had a gardenia in their hand. That was the flash that made me think to realize something to keep the flower fresh and alive, therefore the little bottle came to the light....."- elsa peretti <3
i’ve been recently in a kinks phase and particularly have had “come dancing” on repeat - use this as your sign to invite someone out dancing
i didn’t know i needed a swan motif meringue cookie but guess what i absolutely do
XOXOXO
