cherub butter, lily rose depp's sensible footwear, and fireflies in the park... (there is no mention of owl city i promise)
+.。☆゚:;。+゚ ☆* 11 things i haven't stopped thinking about this week... +.。☆゚:;。+゚ ☆*゚
i stumbled upon of the most jarring experiences a young woman can face on a sunny friday afternoon- seeing a picture of yourself from high school. aesthetically i would say that i look almost unrecognizable. i had extremely long bleach blonde hair, self identified as “boho”, shopped almost exclusively at free people, and had that faint glimmer in my eyes looking for acceptance and validation everywhere (we all know the one). i later looked in my bedroom mirror and saw my pink hair, tattoos, and lone tooth gem glaring back at me. i had an uncharacteristic feeling of dread: who was i in highschool? who am i now? what am i doing here? what are ANY of us doing here?
this momentary flash of existential dread passed (as it usually does) and a few days later i was walking home in the park at dusk and noticed the comforting glow of fire flies all around me. i smiled so wide a old man who was walking past me noticed and laughed out loud. i was instantly brought back to my childhood backyard, hair still wet from the shower dressed in pajamas, jumping exuberantly trying to catch as many fireflies as possible before i relinquished to my bed time. i still feel like her! despite new tattoos, hair color, and a scar on my left shoulder from when i fell down at the jersey shore as a result of too many green tea shots and a reckless teen on a bicycle.
i floated on home to my apartment with a feeling of contentment knowing we’re all a columniation of the smallest little moments we’ve forgotten, stacked up on top of each other like a decedent 7 layer birthday cake.
(happy early bithday angelina <3 <3 <3 <3 <3)
here are 11 things i haven’t stopped thinking about this week (i meant to write 10 but accidentally wrote 11 so we all get a bonus this week woo hoo!)
i picked up kaitlyn tiffany & lizzie plaugic on nobody famous from mcnally jackson, originally a substack that recently moved to a newsletter for the atlantic which chronicles kaitlyn and lizzie guesting, gossiping and gallivanting around new york city. if you enjoy angel cake this book is required reading for a lol
i have fallen prey to the cultural fascination with the idol and lily rose depp- in particular i can’t stop thinking about the german orthopedic red wedge sandals LRD has been wearing that emilia petracara reported on for the strategist. i’ve felt that we’ve been in an ugly comfortable shoe revolution for the past 6 months and as someone who would rather walk 7 miles home than surrender to the uber overlord i am team arch support
speaking of ugly comfortable shoes.. do i need these?
i walked by david parse from @vintagebarbieandken hosting a pop-up on a sidewalk in soho on saturday and fell love with this photo of barbie with a high heel, boxing glove and 2 pearl bracelets. naturally i bought it impulsively and should probably go hang it rn
5. i have been fascinated by jemima jo krike ever since i watched the first episode of girls back in high school, she posted a monologue instagram caption over the weekend and i never related to anything more in my entire life (not an exaggeration). happy reading!
6. nothing will ever bring me more joy than the focaccia and salted butter from lilia and i will forever stay behind that statement
7. why are we all obsessed with oysters/clams all of a sudden? reminds me of when everyone was obsessed with pineapples → avocados → cherries→ now it’s specialty shellfish. my brain is small and impressionable so naturally i want this tank top from lisa says gah
8. speaking of niche food trends, there is a bar in paris that only serves natural wine and ice cream and everyone eats it sitting on the street- i’m physically unable to hate on it because ice cream and natural wine are two of my favorite things in the world. it’s only a matter of time before gourmet ice cream/natural wine concept opens in dimes square (and u bet ur ass i’ll be there)
9. cherub butter!
10. i ~love~ this embroidered blouse from damson madder
11.i went for a mini cheesecake from eileen’s in soho a few weeks ago for the first time ever with sydney and have decided it’s the perfect sunday night little treat
XOXOXO
